From Feministing

October 5, 2007

So, if you have enough money, and enough time, and really, not enough else to worry about you can get a Mom Job (from the NYT).

Because, um, it would be terrible if after having a baby and/or getting over 40, you should look like it. The world will probably stop turning.

Check out this site to see some before and after shots Mommy Makeovers.

Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

    Thank you for sharing.

This was in the NYT, huh? I’m at a loss for a response other than the one you so eloquently provided at the end” “ugh. ugh. ugh.”

Here’s the meta-danger: Plastic surgery has hijacked feminism, period. Now women think getting a boob job is a feminist act!

NOW and Our Bodies Ourselves are deeply opposed to it. Women who think it’s about choice have been totally brainwashed by the plastic surgery industry’s multi-million dollar marketing machine.

Sweet Flying Baby Jesus on a Cracker! No shit? Lawd, Grrrl, I’m an old Second-Waver from the radical mid-Sixties; as Mr. Barnum of my adopted homestate’s town of Bridgeport used to say “There’s one born every minute.” And the older I git, the feebler the pore thangs seem to be. I taught undergrads till ’05, so my experience is more recent than my child-rearing years.

Fummp! World’s goin straight (or bent, if it suits ya) to hell!
