It’s time for Theology Pub again! YAY!

July 13, 2007

Come one come all! If you are interested in joining us for live discussion on Wednesday evenings, contact Ann+ or Kay!

Pull up a chair, logon on to the Pub, and engage your spirit. It feels like a long, hot summer to me, and that means it’s just right for theological reflection and discussion. The Episcopal Cafe ( is a great resource for TEC. You’ll find news, art, reflections, and so much more at that site – and next week they are launching a new video series in partnership with Trinity Church Wall Street. The videos are expected to be under 15 minutes, so it will be easy to fit them in your summer plans. The first video features the Rev. Thomas Keating- read more at:
We will discuss the first video on Wednesday, July 18 at 7:00 PM Mountain Time. (I think that means 6 PM Pacific, 8 PM Central, and 9 PM Eastern.) Plan on that time each week this summer. If you can’t join us for the “live” discussion, you can add your thoughts on the Discussion Board. You can logon to the Pub at If you need help with your ID or password, let Ann annfontaine at mac.comor Kaykflores102 at know.

This is a very interesting group (hint, hint Songs of Unforgetting, Kay) very progressive Christian/feminist thinkers.

Update:  Web Addy is corrected now!  See in Red Above. ‘Spanks!

Eileen, I heard from Ann about this. I’m not quite getting how this works. Do you have to buy the video, or is it available online?

Is there a link to the Theology Pub? The one above seems to go to an office supply place.

Email Ann+ or Kay and they can set you up with a logon at the Blackboard Site.

From what I understand, Meems – the videos will be posted at the Episcopal Cafe – so access should be free (they are setting up a video page).

Then basically, we get together and talk about what bits and pieces of the video mean to us. Ann+ and Kay usually facilitate with questions to help things along.

The “chat” takes place live in a chatroom set up through Blackboard.

This sounds way more complicated than it is. It’s basically going to the Blackboard web site, logging in, and then choosing to look at the message boards, or enter the chat area.

I think you should do it Mimi – This is very low key and it’s ANN! She’s awesome!

I’ve done live chat over at First Draft. I was wondering how to plug in.

Basically, it’s part of the software package at Blackboard. Kay or Ann+ will set you up with a logon, and direct you to the blackboard site.

When you get there, you will see choices for different tools/areas.

The chat area is usually under communication.

It’s not hard at all, and the chat is fun.

I love Thomas Keating, but I won’t be able to participate. Darn.

Just found your blog, and I love it. Planning to come back often. . . .

Welcome gartenfische. Glad you found your way here.

Though I’ve been sadly out of touch for quite a bit, I might just have to sit in and enjoy this one on Wednesday. It’ll be nice to share some thoughts with some other crazy left-leaning brethren 🙂

Cool Josh! It’s a good group, and I’d enjoy discussing theology with you.

    Good to “see” you, btw!

Is there any reason the Pub seems closed on Blackboard for the moment? As in not being able to join it… I see it sitting there, with 3 members, but it’s not open to join. Think this’ll change by Wednesday?

Josh – email Ann+ or Kay to sign up. They will set you up with a login. It can definitely happen before Wednesday!

You can tell them I sent you (not that it’s necessary, mind you).

Thanks, Eileen, I’ve joined the Pub, and I look forward to hearing Thomas Keating Monday night.

My schedule won’t let me chat in real time, but I signed up anyway.

YAY! You can use the message board, and read the chat transcripts when you get a chance!
