I have to Move Dick Cheny’s face down, as it’s making me sick.

July 8, 2007

So I’ll post this.

When I got up this morning, I was thinking about Grandmere Mimi.  I popped over to her place to read more entries on her post asking her readers how they would describe her blog, since she was having a hard time with it, and suddenly, this song popped into my head:

Rush’s Tom Sawyer

“Tom Sawyer”

A modern day warrior
Mean, mean stride
Today’s Tom Sawyer
Mean, mean pride

Though his mind is not for rent
Don’t put him down as arrogant
His reserve, a quiet defense
Riding out the day’s events
The river

What you say about his company
Is what you say about society
Catch the mist, catch the myth
Catch the mystery, catch the drift

The world is, the world is
Love and life are deep
Maybe as his skies are wide

Today’s Tom Sawyer
He gets high on you
And the space he invades
He gets by on you

No his mind is not for rent
To any god or government
Always hopeful, yet discontent
He knows changes aren’t permanent
But change is

What you say about his company
Is what you say about society
Catch the witness, catch the wit
Catch the spirit, catch the spit

The world is, the world is
Love and life are deep
Maybe as his eyes are wide

Exit the warrior
Today’s Tom Sawyer
He gets high on you
And the energy you trade
He gets right on to the friction of the day

I guess, this is how I would describe Mimi’s blog. Yep, these lryics sum it up. Plus, this is just a ripping good song.

Oh, I absolutely agree! Great song, great analogy.

Awww, Eileen, I’m blushing. Thank you. You could not have said anything that would please me more. I love the song. Thanks to Missy and Share Cropper, too.

And, yes, as I said to you in the comments at WB, “I be takin’ names and kickin’ ass.”

I luf this song. It’s on my list of top songs I like to blast…along with In Living Color’s Cult of Personality, Nirvana’s Looks Like Teen Spirit; Blue Oyster Cult’s Don’t Fear the Reaper; and the Who’s Eminence Front.

    Tee hee hee!
